About Harlow Andrews

From an early age, I was drawn to stories of mystery, crime, and justice. In small communities, everyone believes they know their neighbors, yet the truth can be far more complicated. That tension—between familiarity and hidden truth—became the foundation of my crime fiction and mystery writing.

My work is strongly inspired by the landscapes and culture of Appalachia. The mountains themselves often feel like characters in my stories—rugged, beautiful, and sometimes unforgiving. The narrow hollows, winding ridgelines, and isolated communities create the perfect setting for suspenseful stories where the past refuses to stay buried.

My debut novel is set in the same Appalachian region where I was raised. Through my writing, I aim to capture both the natural beauty and the complexity of life in the mountains while crafting gripping mysteries rooted in character, place, and the moral gray areas people face when justice and loyalty collide.

Although I now live in Florida, the Appalachian Mountains remain at the heart of my storytelling. The people, culture, and landscapes of Southwest Virginia continue to inspire the worlds and characters that appear in my books.

Today, I write crime fiction and mystery novels that explore hidden truths, complicated communities, and the shadows that linger along the backroads of Appalachia.
